California I.D. Card

Hi all, Just got married last week on the 24th. Also, just sent off AOS & EAD package on the 27th.

Does anyone know what is needed to get my fiance her California Identification card? I forgot to ask the Judge that married us on how to change her last name to mine. How do we go about that as well?

EAD or Green-Card, they may accept the NOA-1 for Green-card, for legal presence evidence, then again they may set expiration to that of the I-94 card in passport.

Ok, thank you. Just read the link. We just filed for AOS and EAD. My fiance is ineligble for a SSN right? If that is correct, a valide I94 with a birth certificate and passport/visa should be enough to get the i.d.?

K-1's can get SSN during the first 75 days after entry, after than the K-1 needs EAD or green-card to get SSN.

We applied for SSN shortly after marriage, we took, Visa, I-94 card, and marriage cert to SSA office, and applied for the number.

K-1 is considered to be "work auth" with or without temp EAD for the 90 days of the I-94,.

Claudeth couldn't get her California I..D. until she had something offical from the USCIS so was able to get it once she received her EAD.

The first requirement to get the California Identification Card is having SSC, if your wife dont have it, she cant apply for that...

Pls read it hope it helps!

To apply for an ID card you will need to do the following:•

Visit a DMV office (make an appointment for faster service)

• Complete application form DL 44 (An original DL 44 form must be submitted. Copies will not be accepted.)

• Give a thumb print

• Have your picture taken

• Provide your social security number. It will be verified with the Social Security Administration while you are in the office.

• Verify your birth date and legal presence (you may use your California driver license)

• Pay the application fee. (No fee for a senior citizen ID card.)

Check your address before you leave DMV and tell the DMV representative if your address is incorrect. Your new ID will be mailed to you within 60 days. If you have not received your ID after 60 days, call 1-800-777-0133 to check the status. Have your receipt and/or old ID card with you to provide information when requested.

DMV will exchange a valid license for a no-fee ID card to drivers who are no longer able to drive safely because of a physical or mental condition. Please call your local DMV for additional information.
