How to Get Passport Stamped?

Hi,

We recently received our "Welcome to America" letter for the green card. My wife didn't get her passport stamped during the interview. Is this something that is required, and if so, how do we go about doing this? I read some other posts about making an appointment for this.

It's not required if you have the green card already. Sometimes people get their passport stamped at the interview because it takes a while to receive the green card itself in the mail afterwards, so they get a stamp as a proof that they were approved so they are able to get all the green card holders benefits meanwhile (work and travel).

We face that same scenario, once you get the letter you can make an infopass appointment and go there to the uscis office, they will stamp her passport, the whole thing lasted less than 20min

The stamp is just to hold you over in case the green card takes an age to arrive. But it seems like lately people have been getting their cards extremely fast so the stamp isn't really a big deal.
