Hello!.....1. Is it OK to use downloaded DS 230 forms from the Dept. of state website

2. The downloaded forms have several fields in yellow.....is it OK to send the downloaded forms with the yellow text fields (because the original they sent did not have the text fields highlighted in yellow).

3. Who needs the DS 230 part 2?

Anyones help is much appreciated. Thanks!!

If you print in black and white the yellow fields dont show.

Click on the appropriate link for what is required. If the top link does not apply to the country of the applicant/beneficiary, then you are only required to submit part I along with a photocopy of the biographics page of the passport

Instructions for Immigrant Visa Applicants (applying in Albania, Canada, Lebanon, Philippines, Turkey, United Arab Emirates or on the continent of Africa)

When one is required to submit both parts 1 & II and all documents listed in the above link, the NVC reviews all documents and schedules the interview. Part 1 should only be signed not part II as that has to be signed at the interview stage in front of the conof.

Instructions for Immigrant Visa Applicants (NOT applying in Albania, Canada, Lebanon, Philippines, Turkey, United Arab Emirates or on the continent of Africa)

When one is only required to submit DS-230 part 1 and a copy of the biographics page of the passport, the consulate will schedule the interview.

My husband (USC) received a packet of DS-230 Part I yesterday. It is for me, who is a spouse of a U.S. citizen, isn't it? I thought I would receive it and I was supposed to fill it out... so now I am confused :(

Hi Ravichan,

Is your husband your agent? If so, then he will be getting all your mail from the NVC.

You are the one who has to fill it out. You can download the DS-230 part I from the Dept. of State Website, print it and add your passport copy (biographical page). Send it all to your husband and he'll send it to the NVC. That's what I did. I think it's quicker than having him send it all to you and then you send it all to the NVC. Plus he can overnight them to the NVC.

You must have chosen your USC husband as your choice of agent, that is why, he received it. You can download the DS 230 now, fill it out on the computer, print it out using a black and white printer (so that the yellow highlighted areas are not visible), sign and date it, and mail it to your husband.

I-130 Timeline with USCIS:

It took 92 days for I-130 to get approved from the filing date

NVC Process of I-130:

It took 78 days to complete the NVC process

Interview Process at The U.S. Embassy

Interview took 223 days from the I-130 filing date. Immigrant Visa was issued right after the interview

Yellow bars...do they matter? Help, Aussiewench!!

I have done my DS 230 way in advance and sent it to my husband, ready for him to send when the time is right. The yellow bars did print out as I have a colour printer.

DO THEY MATTER?

If so, I will have to do the whole form again, and although that's not a problem, I could do with knowing!
