Hi, I am a USC and my fiancee is Indonesian. I would like to know if anybody out there have any experiences DCF in Jakarta, Indonesia for spousal visa? If there is, what are really the requirements and the length? I am trying to see what are the best options for us either to file through DCF or fiancee visa? I realized in order to file DCF, I have to be resident in Indonesia for minimum of 6 mos. Is there anybody can direct me on how to obtain the residency in Indonesia? The other question is I am going through a divorce and my divorce decree will be finalized in September. If I want to file for fiancee visa, can I still do it after my divorce decree? Will this raise any question from the INS since in the divorce paper said that you cannot re-marry or have a domestic relationship before the divorce is finalize? Does file for a fiancee visa considered as domestic relationship? (I have to apologize, if the question may sound unintelligent) I just dont know what to do and confused. Thank you so much for the help and suggestion

US

If you file DCF -- The US Embassy in Jakarta will require you to have a Kitas -- that is a work permit that allows you to be in ID longer than 30 days -- It is sponsored by your employer and obtained through the Indonesian Foreign Consulate in Jakarta. DCF is faster than a K-1, but as you stated, you must be a resident of ID for at least 6 months -- As opposed to a k-1, which would be applied for from the US with you initiating the I29F application and going through the 4 to 6 month wait at CSC or VSC.

I have filed the I29F for a K-1 Visa for my indonesian Fiance, and received my NOA 1 on July 29. Also, as you may know, the US Embassy in Jakarta is famous for denying 90 percent of tourist visa applications to the US from Indonesian citizens. This reputation makes for stressful interviews for K-1 applicants, but from what I've read here on VJ, there is a high approval rate for K-1s out of the Jakarta Embassy.

Best of Luck to you.

Filed the K-1 application with VSC around July 8 of this year and got the NOA 1 on July 29.

Are you currently living in Indonesia? or in the US?

And let me clarify my previous post -- A Kitas, although not required, makes a DCF filing much faster... Without a kitas, you will take significantly longer.

Best Wishes

BnLia, currently I live in US. I think I may have to file the K1 visa if I do decide after I get my divorce decree. So, are u saying I do not need KITAS to be a resident in Indonesia? so how do i become resident then? I might be plan to move to Indonesia and plan to live there for a year. Do you know how to be a resident in Indonesia without KITAS? Can my parents sponsor me to be Indonesia resident again? or can he sponsor me as a fiancee to be Indonesia resident? If you have information, please let me know. Thank you so much

You do not need a Kitas, but without it a long term legal stay is difficult, but not impossible. Have you visited ID? If so, then you know that as a USC you can get a 30 day no questions asked Visa at POE for $25 US dollars. For longer term visa, you can apply through the Indonesian Embassy in Washington DC www.embassyofindonesia.org and look on left menu for "Consular and Visa"

Are your parents Indonesian? If so, get a letter of sponsorship from them for your visit. And call the Indonesian Embassy in Washington.

As far as my knowledge, I can get the social cultural visa but thats not considered resident, correct? This is really a long process and really a journey. Thank you so much... at least i have someone to share with.... good luck with u and ur fiancee.....

PS: yes I have visited ID several times the past 2 years and I was able to get 60 days visa from the embassy.

Two choices really for a long stay in Indonesia. KITAS which would be acquired through an employer, or a Limited Stay Visa (http://www.embassyofindonesia.org/consular/limitedvisa.htm).

Unless you have already established 6 month residency in Indonesia, a K-1 visa is probably faster. It took us about 4-5 months to get.

Hi, I am a USC and my fiancee is Indonesian. I would like to know if anybody out there have any experiences DCF in Jakarta, Indonesia for spousal visa?

I tried to do this and they told me it was not possable. :o

8/07 Met on myspace.

5/7/08 Married in Indonesia.

6/4/08 Sent I-130

6/11/08 I-130 received by Vermont service Center.

6/11/10 Received NOA from Vermont.

12/17/08 Touched and placed on hold. (Request For Evidence)

1/12/09 mailed requested evidence 2 Vermont

1/28/09 I-130 APPROVED!

2/9/09 AOS bill received and payed on line the same day.

Never received I-864 package (they don't mail them out anymore I had to take it all from NVC website)

2/20/09 completed and mailed DS-3032

((Some time lapsed because of wrong addresses and documents lost in the mail)) ARRRHG! :-(

3/13/09 Return completed I-864.

3/21/09 Received IV Bill.

3/22/09 Paid IV Bill $400.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
USCIS is unnecessary and a complete freaking waste of everybody's time. What did they do other than waste 7 months of our time and take money?-- because I now have to resubmit the exact same damn information(plus some) to NVC. Apparently there is no connection between USCIS and NVC so USCIS cant simply send our documents to NVC. I was happy to get approved by USCIS but now the process starts all over again only with more complications. Maybe someday I can meet these people in person and thank them face to face for f**ing up almost everything so far. Addresses incorrectly copied, email address repeatedly typed in wrong, names misspelled, ECT, ECT, ECT.
Hows about mandatory drug testing for all who are employed at NVC? All in favor?
DCF is possible if the USC is Indonesian resident. Other than that, you need K-1 or K-3/CR-1 if you are married. They used to allow DCF without residence requirement for the USC but they took it away.
