Got GCs in the mail today. Mine and my daughters was fine. My son's had gender error, they have him down as a "F". Urgh.

So here is my question, I know we have to file I-90 balh blah blah... well I was due (no tickets booked yet) to go home to the UK next month, after 8 yrs!!! I know that the new GC can take up to 6mths, 3 seeming the median, to get sent back. How do you think we would do by going on vacation with the GC error? If we took my son's birth cert. and other "evidence", do you think we would run into problems?

File I-90 and return the in-correct card to USCIS, and then schedule an info-pass appointment and get I-551 stamp in son's passport in order to travel if the replacement green-card does not arrive in time for trip.

I would not risk a problem at POE re-entering the USA with a glaring error like that.

OUR TIME LINE Please do a timeline it helps us all, thanks.

Is now a US Citizen immigration completed Jan 12, 2012.

You may also be able to get the stamp on a walk-in basis. I emailed the local office about it and Spokane will allow the walk-in for the stamp but require a photocopy of the front and back of the original green card and any other evidence it was their mistake. Then bring evidence the travel is imminent, like a ticket purchase confirmation etc.

You might want to email your local office for their take on this. My wife's error was "country of origin" but we decided to go ahead and deal with the I-90 now because travel isn't planned until October.

I should add I also called the nearest POE's CBP officer in charge, who helped us with another problem shortly after arrival. He indicated the biggest problem to expect was a delay at port of entry.
