Well, I'm pretty angry at the moment.

There has been some talk on the Canada board about the vaccine "Gardasil". It seems to now be a mandatory vaccine needed to immigrate.

Gardasil is a vaccine against certain types of the human papillomavirus (HPV)

It takes 6 months to get(yes you read that right, 3 shots over that period of time) and costs anywhere from $100 to $300 dollars PER SHOT.

Is this really true? There has been much controversy surrounding this vaccine and I'm shocked if this really is a required vaccine.

This will put a huge road block in front of anyone currently already in the immigrating process.

I'll be 27 on the 19th of May so hopefully I won't be getting my NOA2 until April and then I'll be able to push back my medical till after my birthday cause there is no way I'm getting this vaccine.

Does anyone else have any information on this?? I've looked online and found NOTHING. I just don't get it. If it is added to the list, why has no information been brought up as of yet? They just throw something like this into the mix with no talk about it whatsoever????

Wow! That seems crazy.

Are there current restrictions for people who already have HPV? I didn't think so, and if not, why can they immigrate and not women who do not have HPV but have not had the vaccine. That doesn't make any sense.

I really don't know Jenn...I'm so dumbfounded.

I think Gardasil is a total money grab and I really really REALLY hope there is an opt out option for this!!!

It obviously is not currently required as my wife just received her AOS approval and she did not have this...

There were two people in the last 2 days who went for their medical and were told by the doctors that yes, it is a requirement.

All I know, is that if this in fact the case, due to the fact that I turn 27 in June, I'm going to have a real problem. I won't get the vaccine so I'll have to push back my medical. I was really hoping to be moved by May, but now we'll be lucky if it's August. This makes me really sad and really angry!

Maybe it's only required for Canadians?

Let's remember that for a K-1 no vaccinations are required... you can wait until you are in the US and file for AOS.....

Pardon me? What do you mean no vaccinations are required? They only say you need them for the AOS medical? REALLY? If that's the case, you just made my day!

All applicants for immigrant visas are required to have the following vaccinations, if appropriate, for age, medical condition, or medical history:

Mumps

Measles

Rubella

Polio

Tetanus and diptheria toxoids

Pertussis

Influenza type B

Hepatitis B

Varicella

Pneumococcal

As a fiancé(e), you are not required to fulfill this requirement at the time of your medical examination for a fiancé(e) visa. However, you may want to do so. These vaccinations are required when you adjust status following your marriage.

Welllllllllll then.. this is BADDDD news for me I'm only 22.

My Dr. is reallyyyyy crazy/ slow. So, if I ask her about any of this she just smiles and says maybe. LOL
