RENEWED PASSPORT!!!

My fiance, benificiary, renew his passport and they gave him a new Number. What affect can this have on our K1? We are still waiting for NOA2. Do we need to take any steps because now he has a different number? please help. THanks.

As I recall, the beneficiary's passport number is not recorded anywhere in your initial I-129F filing. So you have nothing to worry about.

I don't think you should do anything.. I'm sure the Local Consulate is aware that in his country every passport renewal means you are assigned a different passport number.

I don't remember if it is on the I-129F form.. but if they included copies of his passport then it will.

Yes, we did include a copy of his passport in the 129F packet....

Even if he did include copies of the beneficiaries passport, this is not required and USCIS won't use it unless it's being submitted as evidence of meeting (i.e. they met in a third country and the copy shows visa entry and exit.) Even if this is the case, the original passport is usually returned with the corner chopped off, rendering it invalid. So it can still be brought to the consulate if there are concerns. If the original passport wasn't returned, it's still not going to be a problem. People at the consulate are intelligent enough to see that the new passport is a renewal, based on the issue date. Don't worry OP, this is not an issue at all.

Yes, I know, a copy of the alien fiance's passport is not a requirement, we submitted a copy of mine because of the stamps on it. But you are right, the Consulate is well aware about the passport regulations in the country which is located, and the OP's fiance should be just fine.

I'm the beneficiary, and I'm gonna renew my passport before the interview, too - 1 year in advance (it's valid until April 2009). I don't want to apply for my new passport at the German embassy in the US, because it takes MUCH more time than in Germany. I don't worry either ...
