Community SpotlightDV Lottery of K1 Visa - Can I file for both?
Petrisaint Mpaka posted a topic in K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Procedures,
I applied for the DV lottery 2025 and hope to be selected this year. My fiancé and I discovered that there is a fiancé visa for the USA. Do you think if we apply for the K1 visa but are selected for the DV lottery that we can stop the fiancé visa process? What are the timelines and options here :)?-

Confused about steps after marriage
SP1988 posted a topic in Adjustment of Status (Green Card) from K1 and K3 Family Based Visas,
My fiancee arrived last month on K1 fiance visa and we got married yesterday. It seems from what I have seen online that I made a mistake by not getting SSN prior to marriage? I am going to the SSN office on Monday to gather more information... also worried about employment authorization and travel authorization(s). Thanks for any insights!-

Tourist visa cancelled by CBP agent. Can we still get a CR1 or K1 Visa?
yotajeeper posted a topic in What Visa Do I Need - Family Based Immigration,
Upon my gf's most recent arrival, her tourist visa was cancelled at the airport due to her frequent visits last year and suspicion of working here. She was denied entry and sent back same day. Is a CR1 or K1 visa process an option still? I would appreciate any advice or tips you can provide!-

1 RepliesHi All -
For I-129F Item 4B (Criminal History Documents) - When I go to the Clerk at the California courthouse that tried my case, do I simply ask them for a court certified copy of my arrest record and disposition? Whatever stamped document they provide is all I need to fulfill the documentation?
Then the police report that is not certified is OK too, right?
This is for a 15 year ago expunged DUI case. I have searched throughout VJ and am clarifying the documents that are needed to avoid the RFE.
Thank you!

1 RepliesOn the DS-260 form it asks for name in native language. When I try to copy/paste, it puts the name backwards due to the fact that Arabic is read right to left and the form is defaulted left to right. Should I just skip this? Is it a big deal to skip it?

Can a US citizen still use the K-1 visa to get soon-to-be Indonesian wife to the U.S after holding a traditional Muslim wedding in Indonesia (w/ out registering at Civil Offices)? 12:46 am today

4 RepliesSo, I am a 36 year old US citizen from Vermont and I met the sweetest, kindest Indonesian girl on OkCupid about four or five months ago. We talked for months, had an amazing connection, and I finally bit the bullet and took a trip over there to see if she was real and also to meet her in person. We hit it off instantly and fell in love very quickly. She is Muslim (28 y.o), and Indonesian Muslims take the culture and the religion very seriously. They also strongly encourage Indonesian girls who are Muslims to tie the knot and get married before the parents let them leave to the foreign country (United States in this case) and start their new life with their new spouse. And her parents are no exception; they are very traditional. I have been looking into getting the K-1 visa process started ASAP as I know there is a long Wait once the I-129 F is filed. In fact, we have already started the I-129F. The K-1 seems to be a much more simple and far quicker way to go vs. the CR-1. But, there s a problem; her parents won t let her leave to the USA (once the K-1 visa is approved) until a traditional muslim wedding ceremony is held with her and her entire family in Indonesia, so we can get the Buku Nikah (which is the official marriage certificate for Indonesian Muslims). This is a problem, it seems, because, from all the research I ve done and everything I've read, you cannot apply for the K-1 if you re already married, even if you don t register your marriage with the Civil Offices in Indonesia (which you don t have to do for Muslim weddings). We would not register with the civil offices, so I thought I would still be able to do the K-1 but I am now thinking that is not true . You might ask me; why not just do the CR-1 visa after having the wedding ceremony in Indonesia? And the answer is; for several reasons. First, I can t apply for that visa until we are married, which is not going to be quite yet, at least not in the next several months, so that s gonna add a lot of time to the already long visa approval process. Second, I want to spend some more time with her before getting married! But, perhaps the most important issue that I have with marrying there first and then doing the CR-1 is the fact that I will have to marry her, and then leave and head back to the United States, alone, without my wife. That just does not feel right to me and I don t think I can do it. Can someone else provide insight on this? Any help or guidance would be much appreciated. I m so sad about this.
Not having insurance long long time ago 10:47 pm yesterday

4 RepliesHi, this question is for a friend of mine who intends to get engaged and file for I-129f.
She is in her 40's right now, and she had a problem with not having insurance while driving when she was so young and immature. She thinks she was around 18 (does not remember if she was younger or older than 18). She is doing very well at this point and has a very good stable job. She barely recalls that she had to pay a fine for this matter. She does not remember if she was arrested because of this issue (possible?).
Could this have any impact on her application? Or would they view this as that she was young and immature? Should she mention it in the petition? What if she was arrested at the time for this issue for less than a day or something until she saw the judge the next day to pay the fine?
