Community SpotlightDV Lottery of K1 Visa - Can I file for both?
Petrisaint Mpaka posted a topic in K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Procedures,
I applied for the DV lottery 2025 and hope to be selected this year. My fiancé and I discovered that there is a fiancé visa for the USA. Do you think if we apply for the K1 visa but are selected for the DV lottery that we can stop the fiancé visa process? What are the timelines and options here :)?-

Confused about steps after marriage
SP1988 posted a topic in Adjustment of Status (Green Card) from K1 and K3 Family Based Visas,
My fiancee arrived last month on K1 fiance visa and we got married yesterday. It seems from what I have seen online that I made a mistake by not getting SSN prior to marriage? I am going to the SSN office on Monday to gather more information... also worried about employment authorization and travel authorization(s). Thanks for any insights!-

Tourist visa cancelled by CBP agent. Can we still get a CR1 or K1 Visa?
yotajeeper posted a topic in What Visa Do I Need - Family Based Immigration,
Upon my gf's most recent arrival, her tourist visa was cancelled at the airport due to her frequent visits last year and suspicion of working here. She was denied entry and sent back same day. Is a CR1 or K1 visa process an option still? I would appreciate any advice or tips you can provide!-

3 RepliesHi guys, all of my documents, including the tax document of joint sponsor, are accepted. However, they send me a message asking for joint sponsor's w2, 1099 and schedule form but he doesn't have w2 and 1099 since he owns a business. So, I just need to upload the schedule form of his again? Is that okie? Thank you so much!

3 RepliesI'm a US Citizen living temporarily in Indonesia, about to get married to my Indonesian spouse and petition for a CR1/IR1 visa for her. I plan to return to the US with her once her visa is approved. According to the US Embassy in Jakarta, it's possible to do direct consular filing here, but I have to email them after my wedding to make sure our circumstances allow it.
My question is... what is the fundamental difference between filing the I-130 at the embassy (DCF) v.s. doing it online via the USCIS website? Will the rest of the process (submission of the I-865 form, interview, etc.) be different? Does this change the timeline or likelihood of acceptance? I suppose I don't really understand what the benefit of doing Direct Consular Filing is, especially considering it's in another city from where I live.
Thanks for any and all feedback!

6 RepliesWell, my wife passed the Civics test and the English reading and writing part of the test in Feb, but failed the understanding English part of the test (the N-400) as she did not remember her whole phone number and had a problem answering the number of trips abroad question. Those were the only questions.
She re-took the understanding English re-do just last week. After extensive studying her N-400 ,she failed. From her description the agent asked 1 question and It sounded like she got it right (Why do you want to become a citizen). She answered "to vote". Was then asked to explain and she got confused and answered again "to vote". No good, sent to the office to see the agent's boss and was told she failed.
We just got the letter, and it mentioned a possibility of a hearing----of course for an extra fee.
Has anybody requested one? Know of anybody who has? Results?
At this point, should we get a lawyer? I need to check locally, but any idea on a price range for a lawyer and if one is worth it? I might have thought wrong but I was always under the impression that a lawyer is good for you if you are bad with paperwork and can help in explaining things but I thought they cant be involved in the test/interview? Or have I been wrong? Up to her citizen attempts (she is terrible at tests) everything has been easy. I must have killed a whole forest on her initial petition for residency making sure all forms were perfect and kept ALL records of our life together back then.
Any ideas. She is really feeling down about this.
Thanks

2 RepliesHi there! I am the USC spouse of the beneficiary, who currently has a pending AOS from K-1 visa based on marriage. We received an RFE for the I-864 since I did not make enough last year. My aunt has agreed to be our joint sponsor, and she earns over $75k per year, and has done so for many years. Steady, full time job for big corporation. However, she just turned 60 and while she does not plan to retire anytime soon, I am concerned whether USCIS will consider her future income to be uncertain given her age. I could not find much on this particular question anywhere else, so any insights would be greatly appreciated!

2 RepliesHello everyone, I need some help. My ROC is pending along with my adult daughter's (K2). I am about to file for naturalization. She moved out few months ago, no contact with me. On part 6 of the N-400 form where it asks for the child's residence, can I type 'unknown' (since I don't know her address)? Or should I put my home address?
