Well the long lines while driving were bad enough that I wanted to apply for the NEXUS program. I believe this might help avoid some of those long lines at Pearson's Terminal 1.

I sent my app in and they charged my card on July 11th. I was not as careful with the NEXUS app as I was with the K-1. I think there is a few month gap in my employment history. I have yet to get a call or a letter. I was hoping to have the letter before the third week of August when I fly out to Toronto.

Thanks!

I got mine in January of last year. I worked for the Feds so I didnt even have to do an interview or anything. I got a phone call 2 weeks after I mailed the application telling me I was approved and to come in to their office. I basically walked into their office at the edmonton international airport and did my eye scan and signed a few papers. It is well worth the $50 a year. I flew into vancouver once and bypassed a million people. It was the biggest line up I have ever seen in my life.

My beneficiary and I both applied last Tuesday. Haven't really expected to hear anything yet. Kristy really couldn't remember all of her employment, either. We both hope it was "close enough."

i had a nexus before. i applied at niagara falls in 2003. i think it was in the summer. i didn't get my card in hand until 2004 and i believe that was in the spring. if i remember right, it took something like 7-10 months. i was working in niagara falls, ny and one of my co-workers was also living in ontario and commuting to work, so he applied as well. by the time i'd left the job to work in ontario he had been waiting 4 or 5 months already.

I sent my husband's application in sometime in June. Really wish I could remember the day and haven't heard anything back yet. Not sure if they charged his card or not yet either. Didn't ask LOL

I applied for mine last year and I think it was in June then and got the interview and card all done in August. I think it might be slower now cause more people are applying for them. I dunno but I wish it would hurry up.

Wow, I imagined it would take a month, at tops. I sent International Money Orders for the fees, instead of paying CDN$80 on a credit card, figured I'd save nearly $50 with the exchange the way it is now. They seem to be advertising it more and more right now, too. "Get a NEXUS, it's cheaper and faster than a passport," is more or less what it says on the brochure.

I do know that if you want to use nexus for air travel you have to make your appointment at any of the following airports for the 'interview':

Montreal International Airport (Dorval)

Vancouver International Airport

Toronto Pearson International Airport

Or to the office in Vancouver BC. It will list these enrollment centres, plus the land ones on your letter that you get from them. Just wanted to give you a heads up :) Hope you get it soon!

I want to use it for both driving and flying. I was just going to take the interview at Pearson instead of driving down to Niagara Falls. Do they book out far for interviews? I am assuming then they don't do it on weekends either? :(

Interesting. My form said that credit cards would be billed at the Canadian rate. The rates listed on the form were CDN$80 or US$50. Ah, well. I sent mine on the same day we sent Packet 3, so my counter in my sig also indicates how long I've been waiting for NEXUS.

Pearson should be fine for your 'interview'. My husband called on monday and could have had an appointment on thursday or friday but he took saturday. I think the times and days available for appointments vary depending on which enrollment centre you go to. I got mine within a couple of days of calling when I received the letter and like I said hubby got his letter on saturday, called on monday and chose to go this coming saturday. So times and days should be easy to work out :)

Wow, your husband got his appointment quickly. I applied in Jul. and made a mistake on the past addresses and they sent it back for me to correct. I think if they are missing anything they will send it back to you so no news is good news, especially if they charged your credit card. Mine was charged Jul. 30. I was told by an immigration officer at Pearson that the wait time for interviews was already backed up until Oct.! It's good to hear that that wasn't the case when your husband called for an appointment.
