I have an upcoming interview for my CR1/IR1 visa at the Sydney Consulate in Australia.

My wife and I both live Australia, and therefore we are using assets on the affidavit of support submission. We definitely have sufficient assets, however, my wife has had her bank account in the USA since she was a kid and therefore her mum's name is also on the account (i.e. it's a joint account).

Do you think this would be an issue at the interview? Does anyone have any previous experience with this?

Are the assets in the US bank account or an Australian bank account?

We used assets in a US account and made sure to include the proof of transactions from our Korean accounts so there was no doubt the money was ours.

This meant it didn't matter that another name was on the bank account as the CO could see the money came from us and was not a gift to get us over the affidavit of support issue.

What other type of proof to re-establish domicile does your wife have? If it is just the bank account from when she was a kid and she hasn't been to the US in several year you might have an issue there.

It depends on whether the assets in the joint account are actually needed to qualify.  If they are, then it may well be a problem, yes.  Maybe get some documentation from the bank about the opening date of the account, so they can see your wife's name has been on it since it was open in her childhood.
