We have my wife's son and daughter-in-law here on a U for Ukraine travel wuthorizaton.  They would like to stay here permanently.  I think we need a Form I485 I130 combo.  Do we need one for each person?  How long does it take?

I am learning.  On what basis can they adjust status?   I read that U4U does not offer a direct path to a Green Card.

August 7, 2022: Wife filed N-400 Online under 5 year rule.

November 10, 2022: Received "Interview is scheduled" letter.

December 12, 2022:  Received email from Dallas office informing me (spouse) to be there for combo interview.

December 14, 2022: Combo Interview for I-751 and N-400 Conducted.

January 26, 2023: Wife's Oath Ceremony completed at the Plano Event Center, Plano, Texas!!!😁

February 6, 2023: Wife's Passport Application submitted in Dallas, Texas.

March 21, 2023:   Wife's Passport Delivered!!!!

May 15, 2023 (about):  Naturalization Certificate returned from Passport agency!!

 

In summary, it took 13 months for approval of the CR-1.  It took 44 months for approval of the I-751.  It took 4 months for approval of the N-400.   It took 172 days from N-400 application to Oath Ceremony.   It took 6 weeks for Passport, then 7 additional weeks for return of wife's Naturalization Certificate..

Married child is not categorized as "immediate relative" for US immigration purposes.  As such, they cannot file I-485 without an approved I-130.  Plus, the I-130 Priority Date must be current on the visa bulletin -- https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/legal/visa-law0/visa-bulletin.html

 

Is your wife a US citizen?  If not, your wife may not even file I-130 for her married son.

 

[EDIT]  Another key point -- intending immigrants who are not "immediate relatives" (spouse, minor child, or parent of USC) may only adjust status when they have legal immigration status in the US.  U4U beneficiaries are considered "parolees" who are granted authorized stay, but have no legal immigration status.

On what basis are they eligible to immigrate? U4U itself is a non-immigrant program.
