Hello everyone,

I am helping a family who got their NVC paperwork rejected three times with a delay over two years. People referred to your website as the family is really desperate. The daughter is a US citizen (student) is petitioning her mom with a joint sponsor (uncle). She completed to FORM I-864 for both herself and uncle with all tax returns. But this is the 3rd time to receive this message:

We are unable to accept these documents as uploaded. Please add (uncle) as a Joint Sponsor, and submit all of their documents under their name.

She contacted the NVC several times and no one is helping or advising what this sentence really mean. Reviewed the application with her several times and all info is correct and all the tax documents are uploaded. Below pic is how the documents are uploaded on NVC portal.

We are trying to help because the mom has special son with severe medical case. Although he is a US citizen he cannot come without for his treatment without his mom. Please advise what can be done in this case.

Not enough information.  The correct procedure is to upload petitioner financial package the then upload Joint sponsor package.  If joint sponsor is married, also provide I-864a and supporting documents for the joint sponsor's spouse.  The I-864a would not cause this message though. Looks like petitioner is trying to upload the whole financial package as one, instead of separating them.

Thank you Sir.

The I-864 application was combined with the tax return in the upload (as in the pic above). Does this mean the attachments should be separate. Are their any guidelines how to upload documents in the portal especially if they are too many?

I appreciate the help.

Upload all documents as separate files--I-864, one or more tax return transcripts, etc.  Keep in mind the digital document requirements as well:

Requirements:

Single File Size and Type

Acceptable file types include .pdf (preferred) .jpg, and .jpeg

Each individual file (scanned document) must be no larger than 2 MB (megabytes).

Scan and upload your multiple page document, such as your I-864, as one file. If the document size is more than 2 MB, compress the file.

They should be uploaded separately, but as carmel34 has posted, your problem may be the file size.  Compressing doesn't always work. Sometimes you need to rescan at a lower resolution.

Did the petitioner add the uncle as a joint sponsor?  From the photo it looks like the uncle's documents are being added to the petitioner's document section.  All his documents need to be added under his own document section. Check the summary page on CEAC to confirm he's been added as the joint sponsor and if not, click the button that says add joint sponsor
