Vaccination question - Do you need to show proof of chickenpox or Varicella? Spouse got both as a child but no record.

My spouse (27) currently has shots for Flu, Covid, Tdap. She got two doses of MMR shot as a child. However, she does not have record of the Varicella shot or record showing she got chickenpox (age 1.5). 

 

We called up the doctor's office where we made an appointment for immigration physical. They said the doctor will check for immunity in the blood work? Since she got chickenpox so long ago, would it even show up on the blood work 25 years later?

oh yeah. its called titer. i got chickenpox 38 years ago and it was shown on my titer in 2020

If she's had chickenpox before she won't need the vaccine . I did my medical in September the Dr said I didn't need the vaccine since I had chickenpox . She may need to have the MMR again if it's been longer than 10 years , they made me have it even though I'd had it when I was a kid.

You can get the blood test done at any lab in Pakistan (titer tests).  Measles/Rubeola IgG, Mumps IgG, Rubella IgG, Varicella IgG.  These will prove immunity (or lack of immunity).

That would be Varicella IgG, glad it worked out!

 

You can get the other ones done (Mumps IgG, Rubella IgG, Measles/Rubeola IgG) to have records for yourself, as you may need them later (or you could have them done again in the US, but it will cost more)

Do you know if blood test with the proof of immunity is enough for the immigration panel physician? We are from Canada, and did our test in Canada, but going for the medical in Portugal. Not sure if they might accept it.

Theoretically should be fine, just ask the doctor if they need to reorder the tests or not
