New COVID Requirement (merged)

We just received the notice from NVC that they will notify the HoChi Minh Embassy to schedule my wifes interview. The new Oct. 1 requirement mandates 2 COVID shots be proven at the Medical Physical. I thought I had read that there is a religous or medical exemption but now cannot locate it. Can anyone advise?

I-601 would cover that. Also look up info on USCIS.gov about vaccination exemptions. 
 

There were some threads on vj with people successfully doing the waiver for other vaccines (not for COVID one if I remember it correctly).

If you want to be medical exempt from a vaccine you'll need a doctor's note explaining why the person can't have a vaccine which is of course possible. For the religious exemption you'll have to show proof that the religion in question is not allowing vaccines. Also possible but unlike harder especially with many religious leaders in favor of the covid vaccine.

We just received notification for interview in a couple of weeks. My wife has not yet had the medical. She does not want to take the COVID Jab for several reasons and was praying the CDC Mandate would be lifted by the time the interview was scheduled.

 Should be schedule the medical without the vaccinations? If so what will that gain us?

Should we attempt to file a I-601 waiver and state that to the doctor? My understanding is both the religious and moral wavers have not been successful. Could this 5 -7 months buy us more time and hope the mandate will be dropped? (SOME COUNTRIES HAVE ALL READY DROPPED THE JAB REQUIREMENT FOR ENTRY)

Is all hope lost and we must reapply the whole process/fees over again when the jab mandate is dropped?

The US still requires immigrants get the flu jab during flu season. And other vaccines are required for the immigrant visa so I'm thinking getting at least 2 shots of the covid vaccine will be a requirement for a few more years (or maybe forever). Although, I personally think they'll require boosters in the future. 

If your wife has received other vaccines and is just picky about this one I believe obtaining the waiver is a little more difficult.  But, you can always pay the $900 fee and hope they drop the requirement before the waiver is approved/ not approved.

Unfortunately a pick and choose religious conviction does not result in a successful waiver.  The fact that a religion that specifically teaches against COVID vaccines does not exist (so one will have to be quickly created) makes it an uphill battle.
 

No such thing as a “moral” vaccine waiver.  

There is always an option to settle in sunny Vietnam but that yellow fever vaccine is just wow.  It gets ya.

She will go to the medical.

 

Then to the interview, CO will see she has an incomplete medical.

 

Assuming everything else is OK you will be given the opportunity of filing an I 601. Seems to be taking 8 months to a year and most well crafted waivers are approved.

 

Assuming all OK then an immigrant visa will be issued, however under current regulations she is not eligible to enter the US. As Bisen stood on a platform of fighting Covid I do not see this changing but who knows.

 

It would seem more logical for you to be the one that  moves.

Waivers for the vaccine?  I thought that was true for other types of waivers, but not for the vaccine.

We do not see many, the general ones well people seem to have a change of mind when they find out how long they take and how much they cost.

 

I do not think I have seen a Vaccine waiver not approved, but as you can not enter anyway seems a bit moot.

 

I am very aware these are not common and no idea if what has been posted is representative.

as i don't think u can say "we'll get the other vaccines as required but not the covid?
