Hey,

So, I am in process of getting NICOP since I got my citizenship last year. While filling out application it ask for marital status. I got divorced from ex who I got married in Pakistan, and has divorce decree from US Court. Then, I got married to Indian person and am still married to him. If I were to include Indian person name on my NICOP application can it create any problem down the road while getting NICOP?

I forgot to add. He has converted to Islam but his name still is like a Hindu person.

Or can I just say I am still divorced and do not mention my spouse in the application since he is an Indian?

Thanks

For NICOP purpose I dont see any ambiguity Whether he has a Hindu name or not Since your Ex-Husband was from Pakistan so I am assuming your  NICOP might have it on there so you have to remove his name any way and you can add your current husband name. If Any issue arises you can always contact Pakistan embassy and tell them your problem I am pretty sure they will be able to fix it. I tried searching it on Nadra website but I couldnt find any relevant answer to it incase of foreign spouse.

In an ideal world - there would be no issue

In reality - The Hindu sounding name COULD cause a problem as inter-religious marriage is usually not allowed in Pakistan.  Your new husband should write an affidavit that he has changed his religion but not his name.  That will probably help.
