***** question split from other thread by other member about other issue.  Please ask questions about your own case in your own thread ******

What is most important- getting married, or getting  the fiance to the USA as quick as possible?
I am asking because you an fly over there now, most likely, and get married in a few days. Your African fiance can get the paperwork ready while you look for flights, you may need to stay a while or go via a third country depending on covid restrictions.
However, getting engaged and then doing the K1 fiance visa CAN be faster- the issue being, faster is still many months, and once the fiance gets here, they cannot work or travel back for any potential family emergencies for quite some time. Plus, getting tourist visas for the family to join the wedding may be difficult.

Another issue to consider is that, depending on where in Africa the fiance is from, it can be difficult to get a visa, especially if you marry on the first visit, or only have met once or twice.  How o0ften have you met in person, and for how long?  Is your and the fiance's families supportive of the relationship?

Africa is a continent. which country are we talking about, exactly?

Immigration journey is not: fast, for the faint at heart, easy, cheap, for the impatient nor right away. If more than 50% of this applies to you, best get off the bus.

I'll repeat what I just said in another, unrelated, thread: please be a bit more specific. We can't advise or help if you don't give us any information.

What country are we talking about? Have you ever met in person? Is the goal to just get married, or to get married and have the African spouse immigrate to the US?

Please provide a bit more information, and people here will be happy to help.

yes,   what country

some like morocco and algeria take a lot of documents and waiting time for the country to approve of the paperwork to issue a marriage license

some have tribal marriage planned by family

some are muslim and a muslim woman must marry a muslim man

whatever,  u do don't do an engagement party as it can be considered "to married for a fiancee visa "  in many countries

and why aren't u asking your fiancee how to marry in their country?

why aren't u looking at the US embassy webpage to get directions on marriage and needed documents (ours even tells the estimated costs)

have u met your fiancee in person yet?

don't marry on the 1st trip to meet

and it says E1 visa ??  for u???

Although there are options and our firm assists client adjust from E visa status to that of “green card” holder, an E-1 visa does NOT directly lead to permanent residency (also called a “green card”). In fact, an E-1 applicant must have the intent to return to his or her country of origin once the visa expires.

op, provide more details about your circumstance. For all we know, maybe a zoom wedding might be the 'easiest' (maybe, maybe not).

Exactly. The requirements would be vastly different depending which country OP means.
