if that is the case can I apply for State ID too ?

After EAD is issued you apply for Nevada ID by using the EADhttps://dmvnv.com/dlresidency.htm

Applicants Born Outside the U.S.

  • Consular Report of Birth Abroad (FS-240)
  • Certificate of Naturalization (N-550)
  • Certificate of Citizenship (N-560)
  • Permanent Resident Card (I-551). If the card is expired, you must also present a Notice of Action (I-797) showing an approved extension. The old pink version of the I-551, called the "Resident Alien Card," that contains no expiration date is also acceptable.
  • Valid, unexpired foreign passport with an I-94 stamped “Processed for I-551.”
  • Unexpired Employment Authorization Card (I-766)
  • Valid, unexpired Foreign Passport with an unexpired U.S. Visa and an I-94 form. If the I-94 is expired, you must also present a Notice of Action (I-797) showing an approved extension.

hello all

just a quick question , do USCIS sent you your EAD before the approval of the AOS? if that is the case can I apply for State ID too ? How do I get a local ID ?

You can get ID with only NOA 1 from AOS

@NikkiR123 usually, it works out that way. You get your combo card before your green card. However, every now and then, some Field Offices just process petitions quickly and some people get their green cards without ever getting the combo card. However, with Covid, you will likely get your EAD/AP before your green card.

ID - it depends on your state. There are states that will issue Non-Real ID (Standard IDs) which are not valid to enter federal buildings or board a plane BUT will allow you to drive, etc. That said, it also depends upon the DMV that you go to. Sometimes you get people who've never seen an I-797 Notice of Action. So you have to be prepared to show them links, the law and ask for a supervisor if needed.

I-751 Joint Filing.

06-15-2021 - Case was updated to show fingerprints were taken.

05-26-2021 - Received NOA/extension letter. Notice date and postmarked 05-20-2021.

05-23-2021 - Received text message with Receipt #. YSC Potomac Center.

05-21-2021 - Checks cashed (processing on joint checking account)

05-07-2021 - I-751 received in Arizona.

Marriage-based AOS - Concurrent filing.

05-07-2019 - AOS Approved. Resident since date 05/07/2019.

05-06-2019 - AOS Interview

04-23-2018 - "Case is ready to be scheduled for an interview"

03-16-2018 - Priority Date.

You need to check with your state to see what exact documents they require.   Often times you can get an ID much earlier than AOS approval

YMMV

In CA my AOS is still pending and I got ID easily. I just gave them all my NOA papers. They took what they needed. Just bring them everything USCIS sent you after you applied for AOS. Make sure you have all the copies in case they wanna keep something so you can give them copy since you will need originals.

Lol, you're too kind, @NikkiR123 I would take a look at this page. https://dmvnv.com/dlresidency.htm I do not think you qualify for a Real ID, but you should be able to get a standard license or ID. It's worth a shot. :)

I also suggest having a copy of your I-797 either on you or stored on your phone if you ever get stopped.

If you happen to live in NYC, you can get local (not state) ID without any immigration documents. Just in case someone wants some ID till they get EAD or GC for Non-Driver ID or DL.

Aliens can get a  REAL ID, citizens are the only ones who can get an Enhanced ID, at least in my state
