K1 is a one-time use visa.   You cannot pick and choose which visa to use at POE. The default is to cancel the B-2, whether it is stamped as cancelled, or not.

Talking from my personal experience, that is incorrect.

I had both, B1/B2 visa and K1 visa the same time. My B1 was not cancelled during the interview and I have used it to travel and return back to my home country before I was ready to move to the US.

I did contact the consul that have issued me the K1 visa and also the port of entry (JFK) before because I also was not sure if it his possible. Both confirmed that there is no direct prohibition to travel as a tourist even with a clear purpose to immigrate in the future. I was told that 'the burden is on me to prove my non-immigrant intentions  to the immigration officer at the border', but in reality no one asked me a single question at JFK, I just told the officer that day that I was using my tourist visa, not K-1 and planning to go back. And then a month later I came on a K1.

Seems some Consulates cancel and some do not.

Like Boiler said, it must be at the discretion of the consulate and/or CBP.  K-1 is indeed a one-time use visa, however.  Yours was simply not endorsed.

Very. Is it different procedures for different consulate worldwide, maybe you think?

@kyra407

As you can see with the responses, it varies. While I personally have seen more B2 visas cancelled on approval of immigrant visas than not, I have also seen some past members still use their B2 after an IV approval.

One option I have also seen is to ask the consular if you can keep your B2 because you may want to visit for other reasons prior to immigrating. You don't have a timeline and you only specified the Caribbean as the location of interest. There are many countries in the Caribbean which all have different experiences on this situation. If you clarify which country, hopefully someone who is from there will chime in and contribute.
