Hello.

I will be going to kabul soon to meet someone I have been talking with for a while now...if everything turns out good I am willing to get engaged or even married depending on what you guys recommend is the fastest way to bring here to US.

I am assuming to take the CR1 route due K1's not being processed due to back log and the pandemic. If anyone has went thru afghanistan kindly give me your opinion on this..

thank you

Neither visa process will be fast and no one can guarantee the timeline.

It seems the logistics of getting married is not an issue in your case.  Instead of deciding based on time-to-visa, have you considered the substantial advantages of the CR1 visa over the K1 visa to make your decision?

Doing either with haste will set you up for years of red tape/administrative processing.  Take your time to get to know someone well enough as  you would if you were to marry another American.  Especially if there are other red flags.

Either option will take several years from the time you meet until that person can come to the US, possibly longer with administrative processing.

My friend got married Jan 2020, applied for his wife March 2020, original interview date was April 2021, but due to lockdown in Bangladesh, it was moved to July 2021.

I got married Feb 2020, applied for my wife Sep 2020, (I stayed in Bangladesh for 6 months) if there wasn't some paper delay with NVC, my wife would have had interview date by now. Her case was expedited, so waiting on NVC to finish paper processing and maybe an Interview in July or Aug.

Hope this helps.

Getting married on the first visit is never recommended.   Having a few visits before any petition is good practice.

Timeline

If you could fill out your timeline, it would be helpful.

As was stated, it's never a good idea to get married on a first visit.  You need to establish a bonafide relationship with the person and prove that you're in it to win it long term.

The process will take some time, likely 1-2 years, potentially longer.  K-1's are taking nearly as long as CR-1's and come with added expenses as you have to marry within 90 days before you can remove conditions, among other expenses.  CR-1 will grant your partner a conditional green card which will allow your partner to work and travel without limitation.  You cannot travel without advanced parole on a K-1, which can be pretty stressful if something happens back home or your partner gets really homesick.

Well, with the situation being what it is in Kabul, OP needs to be aware that some people will say and do anything to get out of Afghanistan at this point.
