Hello,

Any advice greatly appreciated. Myself (UK) and my partner (US) have been together for 4 years, we haven’t yet started the immigration process but intend to get married at the next available opportunity and then begin. We’ve decided to go the spousal route as opposed to fiancé.

I have two children, one of whom turned 18 last summer. Can anyone tell me how the process of moving to the US with me and her brother works for her now? Primarily the financial sponsorship side of things is what I’m unsure of. If my to-be-husband is sponsoring myself and my younger child and she can’t now be included in that, how does this pan out?
Thanks

Does your child want to move to the USA with your family?  if so, I think the fiancé visa allows children under 21 years old to be included.

Yes she does want to come, thanks so much for the advice I’ll read up on it some more! Thanks :)

Yes, this would be a clear case of needing to go the fiancé visa route so the 18 year old can come with.

Do not get married overseas, do the K-1 visa.

Thank you! We’ll revisit the K-1 option

🙏🏼
