Hello!

I’m a Canadian who is currently awaiting a Visa interview at the Montreal Consular.  If all goes as planned and I receive my Visa, what is the actual time frame in which my wife (US citizen currently living in Canada with myself and our children) have to relocate to the United States?  She is currently employed by a Canadian company, though a transfer is possible.
Also, the NVC requested proof of domicile. Would our US bank statements with the Tampa address (her Uncle resides there) be suffice?

thank you!

1.  Once the visa is issued, you will have up to 6 months from the time of your medical exam to enter the US.  Your US spouse must enter either before or with you.  After entering the US, you can immediately exit the country if you need to (to finish loose ends, etc.).

2.  Montreal is strict regarding domicile requirements.  I'm not sure a US bank account and a relative living in the US will suffice for intent to establish domicile.   It will be at the discretion of the consulate officer.

In summary, it took 13 months for approval of the CR-1.  It took 44 months for approval of the I-751.  It took 4 months for approval of the N-400.   It took 172 days from N-400 application to Oath Ceremony.   It took 6 weeks for Passport, then 7 additional weeks for return of wife's Naturalization Certificate..

Thank you for the reply!  Regarding the proof of domicile, is there anything more that you would suggest we do?  We have every intention of living in the US, we have recently gotten SSN and US passports for our children (3 under 4 years old).  She has voted, paid and or reported all her taxes to the US.  She lived with her Uncle while working in the US for almost all of 2019.  I’m not sure what more we can do to declare that our intent is to remain there full time.  Would a letter from her company be acceptable?

Voting records are good.  A lease or documentation showing evidence of looking for housing, job inquiries, etc are also concrete steps toward moving.

You might ask what other Canadians have used to prove domicile in the Canada regional forum here: https://www.visajourney.com/forums/forum/93-canada/
