Is my husband eligible to sign up for insurance through the marketplace as soon as we turn in the documentation for the I-485?

And if he is can we include a written statement that he is planning to get insurance as soon as we get his NOA1 as proof to enroll?

would this include my husband? he is adjusting his status and entered as a K1!

He can purchase health insurance before submitting i485, alternatively you could add him to your insurance without an snn as your spouse, which would assist you in proving legitimate relationship

Agree best bet would be to add him to yours, you have a window after marriage to do so.

The only thing getting an EAD would change with regard to health insurance is that he could in theory get a job that offered health insurance.

They require a Ssn and the window period of when I can add him is gonna be gone by the 23rd. It is extremely expensive anyway. I’m gonna call around private insurance agencies because 640 a month for health insurance is insane and expensive for anybody and I’m well above the income threshold!

If you’re married and within the window they have to accept your application as his spouse on the policy, there’s no law that requires you to have a ssn... my hubbies insurer tried the same thing, I’ve been on it for 6 months now and still no ssn I gave them my passport number as an alternate means of ID

Thank you! I’m still going to try to get another type of insurance. I was on another thread and I think I found something much more reasonable than what my work can give me!

So, I think I found a plan that I want to use. It is 0% OOP and 0% cost sharing (I know cost sharing is something that is unfavorable weight; I'm not 100% sure what cost sharing even is) It is for up to 1,000,000 annually for inpatient and daypatient stays. It is a low deductable ($375-$750). Does this sounds like something that would be acceptable? I would also include a statement that we intend on having him change his insurance to an employer based insurance when he is able to work or go to the marketplace to purchase a marketplace plan (assuming he has the EAD by then) whichever comes first.

Thoughts?

True! However, I feel I may need to find something before we file the I-485 due to the I-944. I really would like to avoid getting any sort of RFE
