Hi everyone 

 

I am currently a green card holder and looking to apply ffor I130 for my wife under F2A. I heard family based immigration for green card holders are banned till end of year. I have already applied for citizenship but looks like a long wait right now. 
 

can i apply for my wife based on green card and than upgarde once i get the citizenship?

 

or i have wait until ban is lifted? 
 

please guide me in right direction

you can upgrade the petition during the process when eligible

Exactly, there’s no point in waiting to start the process. The ban is only on visa issuance, there is a lot to happen before that point anyway.  If she hasn’t finished processing by the time you become a citizen, then upgrade the petition.

Apply then upgrade when you have the citizenship.

Just want to make sure. Just your wife right? No children to file for?

 

Because if you plan to bring children, then also you need a petition for each if you plan to upgrade during the process. Just wanted to make that clear.
