Hi all, 

 

does COVID by any chance affect immigrant cases that are at final stage now? My dad has been under administrative processing since January but now sure why embassy doesn’t give us a clear answer and what caused that delay. Is the pandemic the reason why cases are still pending?

It surely does. Long APs, especially for MENA countries are common mostly because it takes so long to finish background checks and the whole world battling with Covid probably doesn't make it easier to get things done in a timely manner.

What visa type for your dad?  IR5?

I am in F3 category( I-130) . It is very frustrating as I have gone for interview in Februay 2020 and was advised that they will send us  correspondence to complete DNA with my daughter since then I have not heard from them. I am wondering if anyone is in this situation.

F3 visa issuance is also banned until end of 2020 (if not extended).  So everyone in that visa category also has to wait, like you.
