updating status with social security (merged)

I was thinking that I would update social security administration later on when things would become normal because right now they are not allowing any face-face appointment due to COVID-19 and asking me to send them original Naturalization certificate by mail and they will update my status from green card holder to US Naturalized Citizen.if things become normal and I get chance to visit local social security office in 2021 would it be fine is there any disadvantage of informing and updating my immigration status later on?

No problem to do this later

but if it worries you to mail originals , don't worry

i had to mail all originals of my birth, marriage and husband's death to claim my widow's benefits

just make a photo copy before you send anything

and if you want the certificate to not be folded send it in a large manila envelope with a stamped self addressed one inside for them to mail back to you

and Congratulations on citizenship

please register and vote

So my wife and I did the spousal visa. She’s in the states now but with that being said we’re still waiting for her physical green card and her social security to come through.
Do we have to follow through social security regarding about getting one or will the process it just like how we stated on the form of the application?

sorry if this is in the wrong form

nowdays how can we update our immigration status from "green card holder to US Citizen "with local social security administration office?

It'll depend on your local SSA office. Some are giving in-person appointments if you have a valid job offer in writing or some medical issue. And a few offices are more lax in giving in-person appointments. You should call the 1-800 number for your local office: https://secure.ssa.gov/ICON/main.jsp

Your wife should call SSA: "IMPORTANT: Call us if you do not receive your Social Security card after 3 weeks or if you change your mailing address after arrival in the United States. If you call us, please have this letter with you. It will help us answer your questions." https://www.ssa.gov/ssnvisa/Handout_11_1.html

her physical green card

Since your wife entered on 06/24/20 it's still normal processing. I assume you paid the $220 USCIS Immigrant Fee before she entered the US. If after 120 days pass since she entered the US and she hasn't received the GC, then contact USCIS: https://egov.uscis.gov/processing-times/expect-green-card

Some do it after naturalization because they read the following flyer provided by USCIS: https://www.uscis.gov/sites/default/files/document/flyers/M-767.pdf "Update Your Social Security Record"

I spokewith someone from the uscis I told

them I payed the fee and it has been 120 days since I payed it and gave me a confirmation number as well.

also was told I would get a letter within a month and that was July 24, 2020.

I called my local ssa they don’t do In person interview or appointment. But I did hear from them about that they might consider if she has a job offer. Also told them I need a social security number for my daughter for medical insurance purpose.
they wouldn’t consider a in person interview for my daughter after telling them that I can enroll her in my insurance :(

Yes,  when you are a new citizen you take the certificate to SS office and update your status

TO Op

if the SS office is closed there is a form online to fill out and mail in (read instructions for address)

before you send anything in,  make a copy for your safety

if you don't want the certificate folded over ,  send it in a large manila envelope with a stamped manila envelope inside for the return

Look at the first row: https://egov.uscis.gov/processing-times/expect-green-card Thus, it's still within normal processing time.

It`s not a must or immediately. You can wait until things get back to normal and make changes.
