My friend does not income at all, but he has a joint sponsor. What forms he needs to fill out, I864A or I864?

For a family-based  immigrant visa, the petitioner must provide an I-864 packet.

A joint sponsor also provides an I-864 packet.

I'm responding to the status update on my account back in this thread. Keeping questions in the thread is useful so others can see and chime in with input.

Yes, the petitioner must always provide an I-864. If they have no income, they just won't need to provide any evidence of current income. They still need to provide the total income from the past 3 most recent tax years, along with a copy of at least the most recent year's return.

If they had no income for those years as well - and therefore were not required to file - they will mark the appropriate box on the I-864 and state that they were not required to file because they had no income.
