next step after I 130 is approved

Hi all, 

I filed for I 130 online for both of my parents in May and received NOA I 797 that it was approved for both. It says that it was sent to NVC, but there is nothing on next steps. 

What's the next step now?

At some point you will get a welcome letter from the NVC.

NVC will contact you with the next steps.  But please be aware that all IR-5 visas are suspended until 2021.

The instructions are pretty comprehensive and easy to follow.

Upon receipt of the welcome letter, you can contact NVC via inquiry form and ask to connect your parents cases, to ensure they will be interviewed on the same day.

Once you become "Documentarily Qualified" in NVC stage, your parents cases will remain at NVC until the visa ban for this category has been lifted, at which point NVC will schedule their interview and send the cases to their embassy.

Hello. Where did you see that IR-5 visas are suspended until next year? Wherever you saw this, does it also mention anything about K-1 visas?

CR2/IR2 is not suspended.

Here is an article which discusses it.  This Executive Order was extended until the end of 2020.

Who Is Affected?

Under the April 22, 2020 proclamation, non-citizens applying under the following immigration categories will not be issued immigrant visas at a U.S. consulate abroad for at least 60 days, unless they qualify for an exemption:

• Most employment-based immigrant visa applicants (EB1, EB2, EB3, EW3, EB4), but not EB5 investor visa applicants
• Parents of U.S. citizens (IR5)
• Spouses of lawful permanent residents (F2A)
• Adult and minor children of lawful permanent residents (F2A, F2B)
• Adult children (21+) of U.S. citizens (F1, F3)
• Diversity visa (DV) lottery winners
• Siblings of U.S. citizens (F4)
• Certain religious workers (SD, SR)
• Most special immigrants (EB4), but not Iraqi and Afghan translators or Iraqis and Afghans who worked for/on behalf of the U.S. government

are non immigrant visas and are not subject to immigrant visa bans  - an I-130 would not have been filed.  An I-129F would have been filed.

You will receive an email from NVC that they got your application sent by USCIS attached is your case number and invoice ID. They’ll give you a link of the step by step process and that is paying the $320 IV and $120 for AOS.Just got mine last 2 days ago on my email. Hope this help.
