I have my father  who came here as a visitor,, this is his second visit. It happens that I have became a US citizen during his visit. Because I was worry that he will go back home during the epidemic. I decided to apply for him to stay in the U.S.

I  submitted I 130 two months ago.

part of the process has to be I 944 self sufficiency, I had a benefit in the past but currently I have enough income to sponsor my dad. However, my question is , do I have to declare a benefit in the past as the applicant or is it only ask the beneficiary(my dad), if so how long ago?

I will really appreciate your prompt help.

You realise it will be a long time before he will get work authorisation and will be able to start work?

Strongly suggest you consult with your tax advisor, he will be taxed on his world wide income so that may not be beneficial.

Thank you guys.

Now since there is a new law that has passed for Public charge, does it mean I dont have to submit for my father I-944?

Please advise.
