Long wait time

Hello, 

 

I understand this is a waiting game, but I feel my application has been way overdue and it's making me anxious. My partner is from Laos and we are a same-sex couple. It's been approx 8.5 months since they have recieved it. Am I the only one or are other folks in the same boat as well?

 

What are the next steps I should take? I tried emailing twice with not much success. I haven't tried calling yet, because I wanted to get other folks to weigh in on what I should or should not be doing. There was a recent suspension on all Lao immigrant visas, however, I am not sure if our application has been affected by that or will be affected by the suspension?

 

I'm feeling pretty defeated and hopeless right now.

Thousands share the same fate.....if it's past the current processing time feel free to contact them using the online platform other than that consider the fact that USCIS is going through strugglea of their own...it's a tough time for immigration as far as US is concerned.

Many are sharing your same plight. Yours is a little more unusual as most November applications have been adjudicated. December happens to be the biggest group as they too are having longer wait times then most other months. I'd recommend a phone call to USICS and see if you can get an explanation. Also, you may feel better if you were to join and read some of the entries in the thread for November NOA2 to NVC to Embassy thread. I'll post the link. Also, you may want to be a part of June's group as they are little more current with what is happening.

Source? The only thing I could find is the very limited suspension of certain nonimmigrant visas for specific individuals: https://www.dhs.gov/news/2018/07/10/dhs-announces-implementation-visa-sanctions

I-129F petition processing shouldn't be affected by it. Visa issuance is affected by the sanction:
