Hey all! 

 

Is anyone aware of any updates in regards to the embassy beginning interviews again? Life seems to be more or less back to normal as far as businesses being open again just curious what the hold up may be!

LOL, really?  Back to normal?  Maybe where you live....

 

AFAIK there has been no announcement about re-opening in-person consular services.  Might want to watch the website for your consulate.

Normal is relative, albeit nowhere I know of in the US at least is there yet.

 

Montreal has not announced a date for reopening yet. The global suspension is still in place, but a few consulates (not Montreal AFAIK) have started scheduling interviews in anticipation of reopening.

Normal? I’m still working from home, have to wear a mask everywhere I go, over 100,000 people died in my country in 3 months from a virus that was unheard of 6 months ago,  there’s someone outside the grocery store counting how many people are entering and I still can’t get a haircut... 🙄 there are countless posts on speculations of embassies reopening.  Type in the top right corner search box for endless reading.

He was mentioning Montreal in terms of reopening. We are living in Montreal, and yes businesses are starting to re open, slowly...But for consulates it's probably a whole different story !

Like I said normal meaning more non essential businesses have re opened such as bars restaurants, clothing stores etc... in both the United States and Canada.

Well, parts of the US. The county next to mine is still in a "red" phase with shelter in place orders and only essentially businesses open. My county just switched to "yellow" phase with some stores open and outdoor restaurant seating and disposable menus. Clothing stores are open for curbside pickup only. Bars can function via to-go orders only (new this week...they were completely closed before).

Yes Canada and several American states have began re opening non essential businesses beaches etc. just putting feelers out there! Some people seem to know more than others in regards to up to date immigration news! And I do check the website every other week!

FYI bars and clothing stores haven’t opened here and only outdoor restaurants are allowed.. so still not a normal

I think the interesting question in regards to this is not whether or not the consulate can open but whether or not the states wants a bunch of foreign immigrants moving to the country. In respect to canada and the consulates here I think they could for the most part open up safely but doesn't mean they start interviews.
