It’s a family base category. Please see the first topic I posted LOL, there is also f1 for student visa but I specifically mentioned on my topic that it’s a family based visa. People please read 😏

No need to be rude.

Your are correct -  The "F1" is the preference class or numerically limited category.  It is an IR5 visa.  A bunch of members here have it listed wrong in their profiles so it makes doing analysis hard.  Like this one:

In your profile you list that you "Filed for F-1 Visa" A F Visa is a Non-Immigrant Student Visa. The 1 indicates a primary user - ie student.  A 2 indicates a spouse or child.  https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/us-visas/study/student-visa.html  There is no such Immigrant VIsa.   To avoid confusion, US VISAs "Letters" only refer to an Immigrant or Non Immigrant Visa.

Someone has filed for an Immigrant Visa for you.  The purpose is Family Reunification.  The Category is Immediate Relative and it's letter code is IR. There are five numerical types.  Type 1 thru 4 are for close family of citizens, their spouses, parents and children (and includes adoptions). 5 is family preference for sons/daughter,  brothers and sisters of citizens and children and spouses of LPRs.  These visas are numerically limited.  Within the IR5 there are 6 preference classes.  You are preference 1

Your "Filed For" visa is IR5.  That is what gets printed on the VISA.  Once your visa number becomes current and is sent from the NVC to the consulate your family preference class is no longer relevant.

Yes you are in the right forum.  Anyone can post in any forum.  But other members aren't always looking at what forum you posted in and only see your incorrect F-1 visa listing.   I hope that clears up some of the responses you received.
