Hey everyone, we have decided to do the immigration process without a lawyer and have started to fill out the form on the USCIS Website. I read somewhere that after filling it out, I must mail my documents to the USCIS office. Is that true? The post was written in 2006 so I want to be up to date.

Filing online started only a few months ago, so something from 2006 would not apply.  Only one of the forms you need can be filled out online.  There's another one you'll have to print and upload.  Make sure you read ALL the instructions before submitting anything.

Would that form be the I-130 or the I-130A that I would have to upload.

What forms are you filing?

Some forms can be filed online (such as Form I-130) but some forms must be submitted via mail (paper copy).

Find which form you want to fill out and submit here, plus follow USCIS instructions:

https://self-lawyer.com/immigration-guides/

My husband is filling the I-130A and I saw that I have to fill the I-130

I-130a will be uploaded as will your supporting documentation.  It does not matter who types or writes information in a form.  Just make sure the correct person's information is in the correct places.

Well how else would they get it?

You're reading a post from 2006, the current year is 2020, 14 years difference, 3 different presidents.

Online filing didn't even exist then, so you must be talking about the pdf form.

Any forms used back then are expired and have changed.

The best place to get instructions on what you need to do is the official instructions on the USCIS website.

It's the same place you get the form, then asking for clarification here if something is not understood is a good start.

I hope you haven't been putting your case together based on information from 14 years ago...

Well it depends on your ability to understand and follow instructions to the point  . your should also be able to do some research work + you have the wealth of knowledge from fellow VJers to help you out if you decide to DIY...but if you not too sure well you can still pay a lawyer to do it for you but you still advised to know what is being done on your behalf.

Speak the truth even if your voice shakes

Wouldn't OP have to mail the evidence of a bonafide marriage and all the other attachments? (passport copy, birth cert, etc.)?

Kinda defeats the purpose if you can upload electronically

YMMV
