We filed for an F4 for my husband's brother about 5 years ago.  I realize that we still have 10+ years of waiting before his PD becomes current.  I'm just curious when the next step might happen, as I thought further processing would have happened by now.  We have not received anything beyond the acknowledgement of receipt of the application.

07/19/12 - Married

Adjustment of Status from F-1 Student Visa: Day 00 - 07/20/12 - Sent I-130, I-485, I-765, I-131

Day 03 - 07/23/12 - Confirmation from USPS that package was received in Chicago - signed for by D Colonna

Day 11 - 08/03/12 - Acceptance confirmation texts and emails

Day 14 - 08/06/12 - Checks cleared

Day 18 - 08/10/12 - Received biometrics appointment notice (dated 08/06/12 for appointment on 08/30/12)

Day 22 - 08/14/12 - Completed biometrics via successful walk-in at Columbus, OH office (We were the only ones there!)

Day 25 - 08/17/12 - Received NOAs

Day 36 - 08/28/12 - Notice via text of interview on 10/02/12

No, they don’t rush it because the priority date wait is so long. You can check for your particular service center but as an example you can see that processing time at California Service Center for F4 is 103-134 months, Vermont 98-128 months  https://egov.uscis.gov/processing-times/

others are shorter but not sure how that workload is actually split between centers 

If there are any children on the petition, the longer the processing wait the better as it helps protect them from aging out.

Categories like F4 are sort of "apply for it and forget it" mindset to it. There is not much updates to the case during the waiting of the PD. It is like a decade of dead silence. It confuses a lot of people because sometimes people feel that the case got lost or something. When the time comes you will hear something.

Mo's brother(who's a US citizen, too) applied for his sister seven years ago and they've heard nothing.

 

 

Last year for the heck of it she applied for the lottery assuming she wouldn't win and she did. Now we're trying to get everything figured out, as you can imagine everything is backlogged because of covid and they are supposed to enter the US before September 30.

How fabulous she won! We also won while waiting for F3! Hope she makes it in. Just wanted to clarify the “enter by” date - it is the expiry date on her visa. Some people mistakenly think 30 September is the deadline to enter because that’s the last day of the fiscal year and the last date for issuing a visa - but unless it is actually the expiry date on her visa,  it’s not the last date for her to enter.

Can you believe I just saw your response, Cathi???  Tell me the update on Mo's sister!

 

I only found this thread again because it's been 6 years since we filed for his brother, and still just in received status.  I try to check on it once or twice a year and thought of it again.  I guess it is good that it is taking a long time to process the first step since he does have kids!

 

So awesome that she won the lottery!
