Under normal situations the process can take a year or so,  current is not normal so anything would be a guess. Obviously Consulates need to reopen for interviews first.

Timeframes for a child/stepchild of a USC are the same as any other immediate relative (spouse or parent). They don't treat one type of immediate relative different than another.

So you can look at the IR-1/CR-1 timeframes for a general idea.

My son's I-130 took 6 months to be approved. From there the process took an extra 8 months, because our Consulate was overwhelmed with so many cases. I found that during the process it helps to keep track of other threads with cases similar to yours or the step you are currently at. You can search for a thread of other filing I-130 in December and handled at the Nebraska Service Center or you can even start your own thread with this topic.  However, with the coronavirus situation there might be longer waiting periods.

Hope this helps.

Hi! My husband (USC) and I are about to file the I-130, just to make sure we are correct in understanding, please confirm if these are statements all correct:

1. Your husband is USC.

2. You're a green card holder (LPR) through marriage with him.

3. Your child automatically is your husband's stepchild since you are married.

4. I-130 is the form needed to be filed.

Thank you in advance, your response would extremely be helpful.

Yes,he is a stepfather to your child through marriage. I hope its your US citizen husband that is filing for your child which is the fastest route of getting the child here in the states. The I130 is the initial stage of the process to determine the relationship between you, your husband and the child. Be sure to submit all the supporting documents with the child's I-130 petition.

Good morning, let him do the filing it is quicker. Use the I-130 for the both of them and just be patient. It will come through.
