So, at the moment my husband (UK citizen) and I (US citizen) are waiting for approval of our I-130 and in the meantime are gathering documentation for the next steps and making sure we have all the info we're going to need.

I've seen lots of people talking about needing to give 16 years of address history.  When my husband and I met we were both working on a ship.  I have assumed that it will be okay for him to list the registered office of the company owning the ship in his address history as I can't imagine what else he would give.

But then that got me to thinking, will the DS-260 ask about his travel history?  He was only with the ship for a year (Sept 2007-Sept 2008) but in that time we went to 9 different countries, some of which he doesn't have stamps in his passport for because he was crew on the ship and sailors don't always "enter" a country in the same way as visitors.  Is that going to be a problem?

It did on ours. I think it depends on what your answers are to other questions. Some people get certain questions while others don’t

this is flat-out wrong, see the exemplar form on the state dept. website: https://travel.state.gov/content/dam/visas/DS-260-Exemplar.pdf

It's a few years old, but I can confirm that the form contained this question a few weeks ago.

@LilyJ at least according to the exemplar, this is asked of "all applicants who are 14 years or older".

Thanks for your replies.  We will start working on a list of all the countries he has traveled to as he also travels quite extensively for work.

Thanks very much for this, I had no idea there was an example of the DS-260 I could look at!  I just assumed since the form is online I wouldn't be able to look at it until we had approval.

It's actually previous addresses from the time the beneficiary turned 16 years old. So I dont know how old your husband is but it could be more than 16 years of addresses depending on his age.

And we filed our DS-260 a couple of weeks ago and it asked if my husband had traveled to any other countries in 5 years.

Good luck to you

Weirdly, it's about the same, hah.  But thank you, that's helpful to know it's from when he turned 16.

Travel history only from the last 5 years?  That's not so bad.  It was more than 10 years ago that we were on the ship.  Whew.  Thanks again, really helpful.  I don't know how people get through this without help like VJ.
