Firefighters Called to Save 420-Gallon Bottle of Red Wine

😱😱😱

Quote

In late January, six firefighters in the Austrian town of Lustenau were dispatched to the restaurant Engel Wang Fu. Instead of a fire or a gas leak or whatever you might expect from a restaurant that needs the fire department, the reason for the call was not that: Instead, it was a leaky bottle of wine, per The Drinks Business. While Engel Wang Fu is known in part for its variety of decently-reviewed Chinese and Japanese food, the restaurant is perhaps best known for its absolutely gargantuan wine bottle. Alas, the near-10-foot-tall behemoth was leaking.

I do love French wine. 🥰

And Californian wine, and Spanish wine, and Italian wine, and English wine (it exists, and some of it is even good), and Portuguese wine...

I found a good Argentinean Malbec and it was only $20 a bottle. I ended up buying a couple bottles after I drank the first one. I thought it was going to be just Ok but it ended up being pretty good.

I am the king of finding a good bottle of wine between $20-40 a bottle

$17 for 3L of wine is a good price to pay.

Argentina Malbecs are really stars and a great value and have not gone crazy with their reputation.

The French lost the vine in the 19th Century but the clones in the New World were preserved.

A few years old, but a good summary.

Edit: this is not the article I was thinking of...I will find it.
