Immigration journey is not: fast, for the faint at heart, easy, cheap, for the impatient nor right away. If more than 50% of this applies to you, best get off the bus.

Im so sorry i meant he filled for asylum still pending and he got married to a US citizen about 1 year ago but they are wondering if they could file for adj pf status

Yes and no.

 

I believe he cannon do AOS if his asylum case is pending. First he has to close the case and then apply for AOS. My friend waited for more than one year in order to close the case.

 

But I don't know all the details.

I'd suggest:

1) He creates an account here for the best and most direct information, and

2) He reads this: https://www.nolo.com/legal-encyclopedia/marriage-us-citizen-after-submitting-asylum-application-while-removal-proceedings.html, and

3) He consults with his asylum case's lawyer for the best option.
