I received the NOA2 today and it has VALID through 02/28/2020. Does that mean if i dont get an interview date for my fiancee before the 28th of Febuary next  year then i would have to renew it?

Most of the time it's automatically extended. Yet, there was a case a couple of months ago where the 221g listed the NOA2 expiration as the denial reason. I believe the consulate was Lagos in that case.

Its was either Lagos or Accra.

YMMV

Because there was no correspondence between the embassy and the beneficiary.. Even when their is correspondence you should write a formal request to the embassy that your petition be extended... K1 is a beneficiary driven application.. You have to be on their neck!

My apologies. I stand corrected. Is this particular to certain embassies/consulates or does one have to request for an extension?

The NOA2 can be extended but only with the embassy's blessing. Some will extend others will not. Your excuse to not being able to interview must be a very valid reason for some to extend. I know of others embassy's that will extend automatically. You have 3 extensions bringing the total to one year. If not completed by then you will have to start all over.

That would be considered when extending your NOA2.

I wondered about that too, but if that's the case, it will automatically get renewed.  No need to panic.

Not every embassy will extend it automatically. Read my post above at one or two posts.
