Can I complete my DS-160 before my application reaches the embassy?

Hi all,

First off, huge thank you for the support this community offers.

I have recently received an email from the NVC saying my petition will be forwarded to the US Embassy in Sydney, Australia for processing.

Is it too soon to complete and pay for my DS-160? Or should I wait for the embassy to contact me?

Also- when my fiance (petitioner) is filling out the I-134 does it matter that he dates and signs it before I have an interview scheduled? He will need to mail it to me from USA to Australia so I just want to make sure I have plenty of time to receive the form and supporting evidence before my interview is scheduled.

Thank you for your help!

Yes you can fill in the DS-160 before the case is at the embassy! I don't know about the payment procedure for the Sydney Embassy, though.

Of course he can can sign and date he I-134 before the interview! They know that  it needs to be send to you before hand so they are used to that!

All you need is case# to pay and set up your account. Yes he can date and sign and send to you no problem.
