One physician speaking to the Kansas City Star also noted that people often inaccurately self-report the first day of their menstrual cycle, anyway. It’s not always reliable information to base an investigation on. In other states, questions can go beyond a reasonable public health concern and can seem, well, creepy.

 

Some states, for example, ask patients why they want an abortion in the first place; Louisiana and Florida require patients to disclose whether the pregnancy was the result of rape or incest. Some states even require women to disclose how they’re paying for their abortions.

The solution is simple, treat men the same. For every perscription of Viagra, Cialis or, Levitra, force the doctor to ask and document: Have you discussed the use of this medicine with your wife? Will you use this for extramarital sex? Is this for recreational sex or will it be used for procreation? 

 

None of our business? A gross invasion of privacy? No compelling interest for the government to capture this information? Could hamper open dialog between a doctor and their patient?  Damn right. Keep these politicians out of our bedrooms and off of our bodies.

Ditto.  In fact my wife, who is about 1,000 miles away from me today, sent me a SS of her tracker, showing her 8 days away.  I have already made plans to be in another state in 7 days!

I don't get the pretend outrage?  Spreadsheets provide a LOT of statistical data.  As long as patient's names were not revealed, what's wrong with tracking the data?  The NSA and other agencies track all SORTS of data on all of us.

Well, because they don't need to track this information:

It's one thing if this is useful for what the state said it was trying to do, but it wasn't. Not at all. And women and girls can forget when their cycle started (sometimes you don't even know it's technically started) so the data unless properly gathered is kind of meaningless. 

 

Alex is here next to me and said he can't even imagine tracking my monthly cycles through an app. He said to mention that he sails the red seas but IT IS NOT TRUE.  I have just had to listen to the most appalling "jokes" about approaching the bedside wearing only an eyepatch while at "full mast" while he says, "Prepare to be boarded, it's going to be a bloodbath." There are even more horrible jokes he's just said about this but I'm not going to tell them because I'm gagging. 🤮

We're in SF at the moment -- we were ring shopping earlier, and had decided to make an evening of it so we're staying over. Trying to get him to go to the rooftop bar with me but he said we have a bottle of brandy and a room service menu so why bother? 

 

(I blame the brandy on the earlier post.)
