Different name on Birth certificate and US passport

One question has been bothering me since I sent out K1 petition for my fiance.  My USC birth certificate states my name  as

First name: Rita

Middle name: Dominica  Bonnie

Surname: Hernandez

I since dropped the name Bonnie because I hated it in high school ...other kids made fun of it.

My name on my USC passport reads

Surname Hernandez

Given names Rita  Dominica

I stopped using Bonnie officially . My question is this

Will I need to submit proof of change of name?

If I have to,I do not have it because I never changed my name officially I just stopped using "Bonnie" as my name.

I had to all pages of my passport to prove trips to meet my fiance and because it expires in a couple of months I added my Birth certificate as prove of US citizenship

Yeah.  You screwed up.

There is no law that allows you to drop a middle name.  You obtained a US passport with a name that has not been legally changed.

To legally drop your middle name, you would need a court order.

Fortunately, it may be a non-issue for US immigration in this case.

I have two Middle names : Dominica  Bonnie. I just stopped using Bonnie on any other document...it only appears on my birth certificate

Did I mention I had to use the same US birth certificate to obtain my US passport?

What law allows you to legally drop Bonnie?  You can't just go and decide to drop it and make it legal.   Google "legal change to middle name."
