What are you talking about? Those questions WERE the questions asked to the child.

 

By asking if your stepson was excited to go to California the CO was establishing whether or not the child knew about immigrating and exactly which city. If your stepson would have answered something like, "No! I'm too scared to go there", the interview outcome would have been different.
