Howdy. K1 filer here. We had just mailed our AOS application and gotten our receipt number via text. However, we forgot to alert USCIS about our change of address. Online, we have several choices for Form i-485. Do we choose Family-Based Adjustment?

OK, so I ended up choosing Family-Based. USCIS confirmed the change via email with a confirmation code. Now it has taken me to an AR-11 form which I have to mail(?) I'm not quite sure. Do I still need to mail this out? Here's  page 2 of the form.

"If you fall into any of the categories below (YOU DON'T) please read the information in the corresponding section. However, most individuals can change their address in two ways:

Through your existing USCIS online account if you filed your form online (YOU DIDNT); or  Filing Form AR-11, Alien’s Change of Address Card, online using the Change of Address webpage (as long as you didn’t file one of the forms in the sections below {YOU DIDN'T}). Filing Form AR-11 online will update your address on all pending applications, petitions, or requests that you include on the form. You do not need to mail Form AR-11 if you use the change of address webpage."

No.

A reminder that the US Citizen must submit I-865 (via US mail) to update the address listed on the submitted I-864: https://www.uscis.gov/i-865

So, should we have included Form i-865 in our AOS packet? Can we still mail one out? Or is the online change of address enough? Thanks for your help.

From the exact same link i posted above:

"If you are a U.S. citizen or national, we strongly encourage you to update your address if you have a pending case. Follow the guidance under How to Change Your Address.

If you are a U.S. citizen or national and have submitted an affidavit of support for another person, you must submit Form I-865, Sponsor’s Notice of Change of Address, within 30 days of your move."

Your immigrant did not have a pending case therefore you as the USC, did not need to update your address until you did have a pending case. If your new address is what you input on the I864, you need do nothing for yourself as the USC.

I-865 is for USCs who move and who have already submitted I864 (and series of forms).

It's different for aliens in the US. They have to update where they have a pending case or not.

The online AR11 is for the alien, not the USC.
