Checking for NOA2 on USCIS website

Hi everyone,

this is may seem like a silly question but I’ve been going crazy waiting for my second notice. I refresh my email way too often. When I check the status using the receipt number from my first NOA on the USCIS website... would that show if the second notice was issued? Or is there no real way to check until it’s mailed?

Thank you!!

In theory it will show. In practice... lets say the status of many has never changed. So don't expect too much and better watch out for your mailbox

I received my NOA2 on 9/4.  Its 9/17 now, it still has not updated on USCIS site.   NVC also has not received the file yet to issue NVC case number.

its sounding like the website is pointless for the NOA2! Ive been checking it almost everyday since we got our NOA1 on 5/31. I guess we are all just suffering in this waiting game :(

If you haven't already, sign up for USPS Informed Delivery.  It is free, and if you have mail pending from USCIS you will see it ahead of time.

Have you tried calling the USCIS? That's how we found out we had been approved. I called the morning of the 5th (this month) and the lady informed me that our application was approved the day before. I got the notifications on my phone apps  including a text, about 3:30 pm that same afternoon (5th) but never got an email.

I was debating on whether or not call them! Are there any specific tips or instructions when calling USCIS?

All they did was quote the process time per there website,  which is the standard response

YMMV

You can see the average processing time at NVC reported by VJ users here https://www.visajourney.com/content/k1historical/ (add steps 3, 4, and 5, currently 53 days)

And you can see the average processing time from NVC ready to interview by country here https://www.visajourney.com/timeline/stats.php?cfl= (currently 69 days)

... so about 4 months.

Note that this is an average, and based only on what VJ users report. Your case could take less time at any step, or considerably more.
