Hi,

I am excited about this website and I am glad that we are all here to support each other. So I got married in May 2019, filed my I-130 in June 2019, and my K3 in August 2019. I had no idea that I could file the K3 Visa until I did some research because I would have filed it sooner, but the immigration office told me that my I-130 would be processed/approved before the K3 visa. The K3 visa application was free so I did it anyway, so I guess I have nothing to lose. So with that being said, when I checked the processing times for the Nebraska Center for both the I-130 and K3... it says that the processing time is shorter for the K3 visa. Please provide your thoughts and opinions, thanks.

P.S. It would be even better to get comments from individuals that actually works at some of these processing centers 👍

I got married in March of this year but didn't file the k-3 until this month. Nebraska seems to be the slowest service center. They have had our I-130 for 5 months almost. I just wish things could move faster. Best of luck and God Bless!

Yes, the waiting period is very difficult. Since you filed that K3 you might hear something soon. Blessings to you as well. 🙏

I just wished they told people that, I am sure there are other people thinking that this is a faster process, because that is what I thought. I just need to have a lot of patience and visit with him as often as I can until then.

No one told me that either. Everyone was telling me to file the I-129f so I did. It is still in Nebraska where my I-130 is being processed. Seems like it made no difference.

My I-130 was approved a month after the I-129F was filed. How long has it been since you filed the K3 visa?

The K3 visa isn’t just a faster version of the CR1 (setting aside its obsolescence).  I’d be careful of getting what I wished for.

The K3 Is a nonimmigrant visa and so you lose all the benefits of being married to a USC as there are more perks coming in on CR1 visa than a K1.

There’s no work authorization and you have to adjust status which is not free and delays everything.  Getting your spouse here sooner sounds great until they get here and can’t work study or drive for several months.  It can kill relationships and make them doubt if they did the right thing. They lose independence and you gain financial stress.  Good riddance to the K3 I say.

From the cases I have followed, the k-3 is usually denied and then the I-130 is approved. I don't know why, but listening to them made it sound worth a try. I know that Potomac service  enter seems to be faster than other service centers. Nebraska is the slowest.

Yes, I agree my I-130 petition was approved the same day that the I-129F was denied.
