Family court issue and something to bring up with a divorce attorney...a lot of the details depend on state laws.

Although it would be unlikely for such a short marriage IMO...marrying doesn't automatically mean they get half of what you had before the marriage. But again, state laws dictate the majority of division of assets, support, etc.

Whether that ruins somebody's financial status or not would depend upon their means.

Well he said he has the House and nothing much else, and certainly if he does not Lawyer up reasonable to assume he will be taken to the cleaners.

 

How long they have been married will be a factor.

 

Wonder what happened to the guy whose ex was trying to impute the I 134 into the settlement, a stretch but sort of reminded me of this.

Everyone else has given you good advice for the immigration side. 

 

I want to say if you considered suicide you need to seek medical attention asap. Either through your GP or a counselor do not delay this. Even the worse of days should never lead you to suicide you have more issues than your wife.

@Hello729 Please do not harm yourself. Take a deep breath. Get some fresh air, listen to the birds sing so you can think clearly about your next steps(immigration/legal matters). Seek professional counsel. There are suicide prevention hotlines you can call. It's OK to cry. Let it out and regroup.

And nobody’s worth dying over.  Check with an attorney.  You’re looking at worst case a few months of temporary alimony while she prepares to move herself back to wherever she came from.  Pay it and be glad that’s all.

divorce filing is a state thing, filed in county court (usually)

withdrawing the affadavit of support is a federal thing, done via a postal letter, to the address that was in the NOA-1 receipt notice when you filed the adjustment of status package. 

The two are not connected but 'seems' to be because of the one event, yes?  (event=decision to divorce).

This^ but it depends on state law. The house that I owned before marriage wasn't even considered for a split during my divorce here in Missouri.
