Putting aside anything about AOC or Thunberg as individuals, I thought this was interesting:

Despite the heavy-handed presentation, if a viewer actually listens to what Ocasio-Cortez is saying, it's quite clear she's making a cogent and intelligent case, and understands the actual scientific evidence far better than her detractors.

They both have found there 10 minutes of fame, Greta certainly has medical issues that have been raised and is being used where a more logical parental response would be to obtain treatment.

 

AOC seems more a self promoter, I assume she has the opportunity, was basically set up by others but was happy to run with it, maybe a bit like Beto?

   Given the response I've seen in the typical AOC threads here, this is a valid issue. I don't agree with everything the author is asserting, but the point is certainly taken. I don't know that sexism is the primary driver of what is going on. Seems to be that ad hominem attacks are on the rise everywhere, and certainly ad hominem attacks are all over the internet and online against AOC. Against others it's sometimes more centered around race or age. It come's up with Trump a lot too. Attacking the person instead of the position. Even somehow comes up with Beto in this seemingly unrelated thread. No one is immune.  

 

  Anyway, I don't really mind it. Typically if you have a winning argument, you don't have to resort to logical fallacy to convince someone of your position. To do so is just a round about way of proceeding with the argument while simultaneously conceding the argument. It's quite transparent.
