I have a question, if my mother got a visit visa, is it okay that we only buy her one way ticket and no return ticket yet? She will have problem in the immigration at the airport is she don't have return ticket yet?

Please answer, thank you 😊

I have always found return tickets much cheaper, and it also avoids any issues

There is no requirement to have a return ticket with a B visa, but it can certainly raise unncessary questions and suspicion about their intent to leave.

This. How do you prove you’ll leave if you come in on a one-way? In my opinion it’s a very risky approach. Rather buy a flexible ticket you can chance if not sure yet exactly when she will want to go back.

Having a return ticket doesn't prove she'll leave either at the end of her visit (as we all see commonly, people just end up overstaying anyhow) so I mention that only because I wouldn't want you to think it's a fail-safe guarantee of entry...

I agree with the others that there's less chance of questions if she has one in hand.

Why would you not buy a return ticket?  If she manages to get a visitor visa, you should know that they are for visiting the US, not living here.  Generally vacations also include plans for returning home.

Thank you all for the reply, I haven't buy her a ticket for return because we're planning to have my baby's baptism  and we don't have exact date yet if it's January or February. That is why were thinking once we have an exact date we are going to buy her.

Try to know that date before she comes to the US if she gets the Visa, not having a return ticket is well known cause for additional scrutiny so why risk it?
