Very simple recipe:

1. Go to Whole Foods

2. Buy fancy cheeses

3. Put on wooden board in semi-artistic fashion

4. Add cheese knives to board

5. Locate baguette and fancy crackers you also bought at Whole Foods

6. Serve to fiance who thinks it's great because he can chop off huge hunks of cheese and eat them and it's dinner

(Optional but recommended) 7. Add other nibbles, like smoked almonds, olives, grapes, quince jam. Also wine. You're going to want to wine.

I'd call that an appetizer.. not dinner. Tonight's dinner was zucchini pasta bake and homemade herb/garlic bread. Husband seems happy, now we're couch cooping a videogame, though I get motion sick on the driving parts.. which is why I look away from the screen and type!

Ooooh, that sounds lovely! I made lasagna the other weekend from scratch -- even made the pasta from hand -- and it's so worth the effort. I really enjoy cooking and am not that bad at it, but tonight I felt too lazy. And it's not an appetizer when you have huge amounts of cheese! :D It's a cheese meal, a meal of cheese.

I'm atoning with a long run in the morning. I'm sure he (who never puts on an ounce of weight because... man metabolism) will stay in bed and still manage to weigh less tomorrow than today even with the amount of cheese he's about to eat.

Seriously, have you tapped my fiance's apartment? We were literally having a conversation this morning before I went to work about what to do tonight and he said he just wanted to stay in and watch John Wick 3. He's on his way over now (I'm making a cheeseboard and charcuterie for dinner, I'm feeling exceptionally lazy).

Drink and relax away! That's my plan tonight too, since I'll mostly be tuning out John Wick 3.

Well, since we all know your EX's NF login now, and since smart TVs work BOTH ways....

College football started this weekend.  No other television other than Mrs. Maisel.

What exactly is a cheeseboard?

Yeah Duke unfortunately lost to Alabama today which was not unexpected one bit.

It's a board full of different cheeses

Costco cheese is fine, don't get me wrong, and they always have some interesting stuff. But for variety, local cheeses and also smaller portions (when you are only two, and you live apart, very necessary) Whole Foods has the edge, in my opinion. Also I don't have a car, so there's that.

Nope, Vons all the way...

Oh, and we also have some gorgeous country pâté, some Spanish chorizo and jamon serrano and a pork mousse.

Far best from me to rain on your city-girl parade, but pork is swine, and moose are in the deer family (largest ones, in fact).

You need to keep logging into your EX's Netflix.  Discovery Channel and Animal Planet.

Yep, and my last "cheese board" consisted of cheddar in a plastic tub and Walmart brand Ritz type crackers.

Stopped at the Winn Dixie here in the Keys when we came down and noticed the Jarlsberg Swiss we sometimes buy at Costco was $15 a pound here.

Best stock up on that cheese.. this thing is still cranking and it's not stopping. Now the strongest storm ever. Seeing the 'cone' getting into my zone as a possibility. Saw somewhere that an MIT scientist developed a simulation of just how strong Dorian could get under it's current conditions - he theorized 200mph sustained winds and 250-300mph gusts as a possibility for this storm. We are approaching that! Some scientists have said this storm has really remarkable features and unusual findings in the daily readings coming in.
